4 Tips for Renovating Your Office on a Budget

You spend a lot of time in your office and you want it to reflect your personality and tastes. Making that happen on a limited budget can be a challenge. Here are some tips that can help you create the workspace of your dreams without breaking the bank.

  1. Shop Secondhand Stores

Thrift, consignment, and other secondhand stores offer an amazing variety of items that can be used around your office for a fraction of their new prices. Shop for furniture like desks, pre owned office chairs, and side tables that make a statement. Look for artwork and accessories to highlight your personality traits.

  1. Reuse What You Have

Sometimes it makes more sense to reuse what you have in new ways. Rearrange the furniture, add area rugs for a pop of color, and toss a slipcover over your chair and you’ll have a whole new look.

  1. Paint Your Space

Paint is relatively inexpensive and can make a big change quickly. Make sure with your managers or building supervisors that it is ok for you to go ahead and make this change before you do any work or start getting supplies together.

  1. Apply Wallpaper and Murals

If the powers that be would rather you didn’t paint, look for peel and stick wallpaper designs that are safe and repositionable. They can go up in a day with a little help from a friend or coworker, and you can take them down if you get tired of the look.

  1. Use Pictures

Pictures and artwork can really help draw your personality into an otherwise generic office space. Bring in photos of your favorite places, family members, friends, or pets to show visitors a glimpse into your world. If you prefer to keep your private life separate from work, stick to landscapes or colorful prints that drew your attention.

No matter what style you prefer, there are ways to personalize and liven up your office space without breaking the bank. Look for specials and sales throughout the year and find creative ways to repurpose existing items to stretch your decorating dollars.
