Channel 4 commissions Pete V Life  
Channel 4 has fast-tracked Comedy Showcase pilot Pete V Life to a full run. The show stars Rafe Spall as a journalist whose every move is observed by sports commentators.  
   
Girl Friday - a Sketch Show for Channel 4  
Objective has produced an all-female sketch show for Channel 4 as part of its Comedy Showcase season and airs on Friday 18th December at 10.05pm. Girl Friday was written and performed by stand-up and skins writer Josie Long, Sara Pascoe, Kathryn Dysdale, Kerry Howard, Lu Corfield and former Broadcast Hot Shot Nat Luurtsema. This is the only sketch format in this year's Showcase.  
   
Andrew Newman appointed Chief Creative Officer of Objective Productions  

Andrew Newman, previously Head of Comedy and Entertainment at Channel 4, will take up this role in November 2009. At Channel 4, he has commissioned and overseen Comedy and Entertainment across the portfolio of channels with recent programmes including Peep Show, The IT Crowd, Friday Night Project, 8/10 Cats, Charlie Brooker's You Have Been Watching, Alan Carr: Chatty Man and Derren Brown: The Events on Ch4 and The Inbetweeners, Fonejacker and Dead Set on E4.

Paul Sandler, MD of Objective Productions stated “after watching Andrew’s career develop from a real creative innovator in the independent sector to very senior commissioning roles with broadcasters, he is the ideal person to help Objective achieve its creative goals.”

Objective North is relocating to Glasgow  
Objective North, currently based in Manchester, is relocating to new offices in Glasgow. Over the past five years, Objective North has produced, among many others The History of British Parks (BBC4), The Greatest Christmas Comedy Moments (Five), Comedy Sketchbook (BBC1) and The Return of 'Allo 'Allo! (BBC2). The move is planned for February 2010.

Derren Brown's 3D Magic and The Greatest Ever 3D Moments  

Channel 4 is joining the 3D revolution by ordering UK-made content that can be viewed in 3D on standard TV sets.

The broadcaster is planning a week of stripped peaktime 3D programming this autumn. Derren Brown's 3D Magic Spectacular will feature specially shot tricks from a range of magicians, plus archive 3D footage.

Objective is also compiling The Greatest Ever 3D Moments, including Jaws 3D and a 1993 Doctor Who Children in Need special.

The next series of Peep Show has been commissioned and will start production in the New Year.

 
   
The Real Hustle Undercover  

 

The massive success of the format both in the UK and overseas has led to the BBC commissioning another two series. Series 8, The Real Hustle Undercover, is in production and will be broadcast early in 2010.

Series 9 has been commissioned and is about to begin production on a 10 x 30-minute run of the series, which springs con tricks, magic and scams upon unsuspecting members of the public.
